CMS gives approval to $52B Medicaid waiver for Massachusetts
As per recent media reports, CMS has given its approval to waive off a five-year, $52.5 billion Medicaid for the Massachusetts residents.
This development has made Massachusetts as one of the several states to receive a Medicaid waiver from the federal government. The waiver thus enables the Massachusetts to revamp their Medicaid program known as MassHealth.
The revamped MassHealth program now incorporates the launch of an ACO pilot program, long-term care services, and behavioral health services, enabling shifting to more contemporary value-based model instead of the fee-for-service model.
Tax raise to follow drop in gas prices over past month
According to AAA’s most recent survey, the average price of a gallon of gas in Massachusetts received a slight drop in gas prices to come to a level below the national average gas prices. Despite the rate cut, the gas prices remained 11 cents a gallon more expensive than past year.
As per AAA’s weekly report, the average price of a gallon of gas received a drop of 3 cents a gallon to be at $3.48 price point.
The House- Senate conference committee expected to meet this week is likely to come out with a Tax-raising legislation for state taxes to raise the gas prices from 23.5 cents per gallon to 26.5 cents per gallon.
As per media surveys, the gas prices were found to be hovering at a minimum base price of $3.32 per gallon and reached the maximum level of $3.69 per gallon.
